Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy law give honest persons who file Chapter 7 or 13 cases a fresh start from burdensome debt. Depending on your financial situation, both types of cases can release you from certain debts and prohibit creditors from taking action to collect debts.


Child Custody

The primary consideration in a child custody case in Mississippi is the best interest of the child. Typically, 12 factors are used to determine the childs best interest. Called the “Albright Factors”, these include considerations such as the child’s age; adult parenting skills; employment and financial stability; mental health and age of parents, moral fitness; and the preference of children over the age of 12. Other relevant factors may also be considered.


Divorce

A divorce proceeding can be one of the most stressful situations in a person’s life. We have the knowledge and experience necessary to assist you with a legal strategy customized to your needs. In Mississippi, you may be granted a divorce in one of two ways:

  • By agreement, which is a divorce based upon “Irreconcilable Differences”

  • By “Contested Grounds”, of which there are 12 categories in Mississippi.
